Dwayne Wanner
The experience of seeing many of the collections of the past as well as contemporary artists has provided me with an appreciation of the variety of art. I am fortunate to be able to encompass this experience in the art of quilt making – a necessary art form.
I continually strive to achieve a technique that emulates the force, dynamism and subtle minimalism of abstract expressionist painters and sculptors. There is nothing like the feel of the ridges of fabric on a quilt top. Free motion quilting with the addition of yarns and fabric pieces give a depth that you can feel in your fingertips. I want the fibre works hanging on a wall, lying across beds and folded over chairs, etc. where they can be appreciated in a very personal way for their colour and texture.
