Ann Sanders
Though I started with drawing and painting classes and worked in oils and watercolours for several years, my love is the textile arts. I've tried many approaches and techniques - embroidery by hand and machine, knitting, crochet, tatting, weaving, and quilting - I seem to have settled on using mostly embroidery and quilting for my artistic expression. I enjoy the tactility of fabrics and threads, the huge variety of colours and textures, and the many ways of using them to create works of art. One can combine hand and machine work, glue and paint, dyes and metals, ordinary and weird materials, and end up with a distinctive piece and one-of-a-kind. It is a joy to experiment and create.
