Bethany Garner
My art quilts are contemporary in style and definitely fine art focused. I lean toward abstract in design, emphasizing color, contrast, and value relationships .As I lean in to each new challenge and the spontaneity of creating a design with my original dyed and painted fabrics, I inevitably learn during the design process and sometimes the results surprise even me. As a member of CONNECTIONS and Kingston Fibre Artists Group and SAQA, I am constantly challenged to keep ahead of the exhibition calendar with all new work. I am now focusing on shibori, indigo and paint work with thickened dyes. I am an Educator first, and sharing with my students is the main focus in my work.
